Like an alarm, a sounder will usually produce a high-pitched sound, while the beacon will normally flash red to provide a visual warning. The two systems can be combined into a single device which will either be fitted to a wall or ceiling.

Fire panels

Mainly used in commercial buildings, the main purpose of a fire panel is to activate a quick emergency response if there’s a fire, giving everyone the best possible chance to get out safely. Depending on the particular panel used, this response could include a number of different aspects.

There’s multiple types of fire panels and some will come with more capabilities than others. A very basic system may only set off the alarm, while others may automatically call the fire department or even set off the sprinklers if that particular building has them.
